Purr-maid Fish Tank

  Merfolk's Fish-tank Look at the awesome new "mermaid" book for our classroom from Scholastic books. It's a great book to go with our new "purrmaid" fish-tank. We are slowly building our tank, step by step. Fish will be our last addition. We are very excited about our new addition. 

Leader in Me: Habit #5

Habit #5 of Happy Children We are all " LEADERS "  in the Merfolk classroom. "There is a difference between not knowing and not knowing YET . " - Sheila Tobias Habit 5: Seek First to Understand Then to be Understood (9/25/17)   I listen to others' ideas and feelings. I try to see things from their viewpoints. I listen to others without interrupting. I am confident in voicing my ideas.

Leader in Me: Habits # 3 &4

Habits # 3&4 of Happy Children We are all " LEADERS "  in the Merfolk classroom. "If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more, and become more, you are a leader." —John Quincy Adams   Habit 3: Put First Things First (9/4/17) Work first, then play. I spend my time on things that are most important. This means i should say no to things I should not do. I set priorities, make a schedule, and follow my plan. I am organized.   Habit 4: Think Win-Win (9/18/17) Everyone can win! I want everyone to be a success. I don't have to put others down to get what I want. It makes me happy to see other people happy. I like to do nice things for others. When a problem comes up, I help think of a way to solve it.         We can all win!  

Merfolks Learn About Immigration

We are studying the history of immigration. It's a great time to share with your kids where your family comes from. Did you know we have 4 different languages that can be spoken in our room? We are learning we are a "Melting Pot" of culture in our classroom. (watching a short video of immigrants coming through Ellis Island).

The Leader in Me: 8 Habits of Happy Children

8 Habits of Happy Children   We are all " LEADERS "  in the Merfolk classroom.  Learning the "8 Habits of Happy Children" help us to find the leader in us. The process develops the essential life skills and characteristics students need to thrive. Each week we are focusing on a new habit and then will continue to focus monthly during the year to become the " LEADERS " we are meant to be.  Success is not the key to happiness. Happiness is the key to success - Cain. Habit 1: Be Proactive (8/21/17) You're in charge! "I have a "Can Do" attitude. I choose my actions, attitudes, and moods. I don't blame others. I do the right thing without being asked, even when nobody is looking.   Habit 2: Begin with the End in Mind (8/28/17) Have goals and plans. I plan ahead and set goals. I do things that have meaning and make a difference. I am an important part of my classroom. I look for ways to be a good citizen.
